Mint & Lime Kombucha Margarita

By Katherine Ratliff June 5, 2015

If you’re not a margarita fan, I have 2 questions for you.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?

Seriously.

This “margarita” recipe is a must try (for obvious reasons).

There’s nothing like a fresh, tart margarita to keep you feeling refreshed on a warm day. After reading about kombucha-inspired mocktails the other day, I felt inspired to try my hand at one, and oh boy am I glad I did!

I don’t really drink that often and typically find myself just bringing a bottle of kombucha with me to enjoy. This is a fun way to still feel like you are enjoying a refreshing cocktail without the extra sugar or alcohol. Trust me, you won’t feel like you’re missing out at all – plus you’ll be loading up on probiotics, vitamin C, and a handful of phytonutrients (from the mint).

This kombucha margarita is  super easy to make and quite satisfying. I love this after a long hike or even as I’m laying outside enjoying a good book…. ok, I really like this any time of day.

I am a big fan of tart foods, so I like to make this pretty limey. In fact, you will notice there is no added sugar to this recipe. If you find that it’s a bit too tart for your tastes, you can add a touch of honey to sweeten it up.

The great thing about a recipe like this is that you can tweak the ingredients to your liking. Are you a die-hard mint fan? Add a few more mint leaves. Want a mellower margarita? Swap out some of the kombucha for more coconut water. See how easy it is?

Ingredients:

-2 cups kombucha
-1/2 cup coconut water
-1/3 cup lime juice
-1/4 cup packed mint leaves
-ice

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add enough ice to reach the consistency you prefer. I use about 3 large handfuls of ice!

Note: I make my own kombucha and used this for the recipe. If you are buying kombucha I recommend using GT’s ginger kombucha for this. It will be delicious!
