Delicious & Natural DIY Candy Cane Lip Scrub

By Janelle Martel December 10, 2015

Dry, flaky lips are the worst, but seem to happen to me every winter. Sometimes, lip balm just doesn’t do the trick. I love how lip scrubs immediately get rid of flakiness and leave my lips feeling smooth. Although, some lip scrubs can be a bit expensive. Luckily, I realized I could make my own lip scrubs for cheaper. This lip scrub is simple to make, and smells just like candy canes!

What’s also great is that it doesn’t have any weird ingredients – sugar to exfoliate, olive oil to moisturize, and peppermint and vanilla oils to soothe irritated lips and give off a lovely candy cane scent. This would make a great last-minute gift you can put together quickly or easily, or you can just mix some up for yourself!

To use, just grab a bit on your fingers and rub it on your lips, letting the sugar exfoliate any dry skin. Rinse off and follow with a thick balm for the best moisture. I’ve made this in a small batch, so you can pop it in a lip balm container for easy gifting or use, but you can definitely make a bigger batch.

2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon olive oil
2 drops vanilla essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil

Mix together all ingredients in a small bowl, and spoon into container.
Seal container to keep the scrub moist.
If the scrub becomes dry at any point, simply add a touch more olive oil to get it back to the right consistency.
