Beyoncé Launches Activewear Line, Ivy Park, And Now We All Want To Actually Workout

By Kym Estrada April 1, 2016

I wasn’t ready.

Beyoncé, aka ruler of the free world, aka master of my fate/captain of my soul, aka perfection in the living flesh, just dropped her own athletic clothing line, Ivy Park. The collection is a homage to Parkwood, the local park Bey spent much of her youth running around. In the captivating, inspiring launch commercial, she reveals that, “the park became a state of mind, the park became my strength, the park is what made me who I am.” Basically, something our future kids won’t be able to relate to since they’re eyes will be glued to Angry Birds version 4.0 or whatever the latest tech/app gadget will be at the time. But that’s besides the point.

Despite my bias toward Bey, and thinking everything she touches is pure gold, Ivy Park is one hell of line. Unlike the highlighter colors and cutesy workout gear that vomit our Instagram feed, Ivy Park strays away from the norm of trying to be different and gives it to us straight. Bey doesn’t play around in this collection and gives us a range of leggings, sweatshirts, sport bras that are timeless non disposable classics.

The body suits are what make Ivy Park just as iconic as Bey. There aren’t any intricate laser cuts or “read me” motivational quotes, but they do scream for attention without even asking for it. If Beyoncé dripping wet on a basketball court or intensely rope training isn’t convincing enough to actually go and workout, then consider yourself not human. We’ll be doing backflips when the line drops (figuratively and literally … maybe).

Ivy Park will be available worldwide online and in stores April 14 at participating retailers including Top Shop, Nordstrom, Net-a-porter, among others.
