5 Life Hacks To Make Your Backyard A Wonderland

By Miss Millennia Magazine October 29, 2015

Although Summer is over, there are still plenty of reasons to host a fun BBQ or get-together in your backyard this Fall. And the good news is you don’t always have to spend a lot of money to wow your friends. Check out some of these amazing backyard hacks that will take your party to the next level!

1. Moss Paint

Instructions/Items Needed
A small handful of moss
2 cups of buttermilk (you may also use yogurt as a substitute)
2 cups of water
1/2 tsp. sugar
Corn syrup (optional)
Gather as much moss as you can find and wash it to clean it of soil. Break the moss into smaller pieces and put into your blender. Now, you will add 2 cups of buttermilk, 2 cups of water, and a half a tsp. of sugar. If the mixture lacks thickness, add corn syrup. All there’s left to do now is paint your design! Use a paintbrush to apply the moss design to where you want it to grow and remember to water frequently. The result is stunning!

2. Mirrors

Hang mirrors around your backyard so they will reflect the surroundings. This will make your backyard appear larger than it really is, and it looks absolutely magical.

3. Affordable Pallet Seating

Rather than spend hundreds of dollars on outdoor seating, buy several pallets (the size will vary depending on how large an area you want to cover) and stack them. All you need to do is buy the right size cushions to finish this look. The perk is you can often find pallets for free, but Home Depot does sell them in various sizes as well.

4. Marble Fence

Buy some multi-colored marbles and drill several holes into your fence, then simply push the marbles in. When the sun catches them they will cast a rainbow of light onto your yard.

5. Lighting

Regardless of what shape your backyard is it, if your party is going to be at night, some beautiful lights will add to the ambiance of your party. You can’t really go wrong with a plethora of lights! Head over to your dollar store and stockpile some string lights for your next hangout.
