5 Things You Didn’t Know About Anna Wintour

By The Body Department September 8, 2014

You think you know Anna Wintour — but you have no idea. Vogue’s infamous editor-in-chief has been loosely depicted in films, most notably The Devil Wears Prada as a cold, callus, ice queen that cares more about the latest fashion than other people’s feelings. We’ve seen photographs of her at fashion week sporting her signature bob, and wide-rimmed sunglasses with a bit of a scowl on her face. But, what do we really know about Ms. Wintour?

In The September Issue a documentary that follows Wintour and her staff, as they put together the annual September edition of Vogue, we get a rare glimpse into the life of this seemingly unrelatable fashion icon. Subtle moments in the film show Wintour in a more vulnerable light, revealing some of her fears and insecurities. The film slowly peels away the many layers that shape our perception of who she is to show us that Wintour is quite simply a career woman and a mother. With fashion week upon us, we thought it would be fitting to pay homage to one of the most important women (if not the most) in fashion today. Here are five things we learned about Anna Wintour from the film.

We can all learn a thing or two about life, success, and family if we take a close look at this film and ask yourself: Am I living my passion? There is no question, Wintour’s passion for the art of fashion and her relentless work-ethic are some of the keys to her success and inspiration for us all.
