Netflix + Fitness… Netflixness

By Taylor Robison October 11, 2018

Between my early morning routines, long commutes, a full workday, studying and other daily tasks, my days are packed to the brim. Needless to say my downtime during the week is nonexistent. It’s no surprise the first thing I want to do when I get home is plop on the couch for an hour and do absolutely nothing. Not think, not cook, not change into workout clothes, and definitely not drive to the gym. Just chill and maybe throw on some mindless reality TV or Netflix. Btw, we just made “Netflixness” a thing.

As you can imagine, my schedule leaves me pretty unmotivated and drained. The thought of adding another hour or more to work out at the gym somewhat brings me to tears. Okay I’m exaggerating but wouldn’t we all rather binge Ozark on Netflix instead?! *raises both hands*

Lately, I’ve been getting into the habit of choosing select days to exercise at home. No fancy equipment, no headphones, no smelly and crowded gym full of “Gymbros” hogging the smith machine. Just me, myself… and Netflix. On those days when I block the gym out of my mind and work out at home, Netflix is my saving grace. Trust me, you’re guaranteed to sweat!

What You Need

You, yourself, your body.

Optional: Jump Rope

Workout 1:

If you want to watch Netflix but still feel that burn in the morning.

  • 25 calf raises
  • 12 squats
  • 12 donkey kicks per leg
  • 10 pushups
  • 30 second planks
  • 20 crunches

Repeat 3 – 4 times no breaks (or as many times you can bear!)

Workout 2:

If you just don’t feel like driving to the gym but you want to sweat…a lot.

  • 1 minute jump rope – No jump rope? Swap for 10 jump squats
  • 12 lunges per leg
  • 15 squats
  • 30 second high knees
  • 30 second plank
  • 10 Burpees

Repeat 3 – 4 times no breaks (or as many times you can bear!)

P.S. Don’t forget to stretch! You’ll be a little sore in the morning.
